Vape Leaking: Coil Installation or Aging
Phenomenon: E-liquid leaking from air holes or the mouthpiece.
Cause: The coil is not tightened properly, the O-ring seal is damaged, or the coil is old and deformed from extended use.
Solution: Remove the coil and re-tighten it—hand-tight is enough, do not over-tighten. If the O-ring looks worn or cracked, replace the coil. Check that all seals are seated correctly before reassembling.
Vape Leaking: Filling Error
Phenomenon: Leaking immediately after refilling.
Cause: E-liquid was accidentally poured into the central airway (the chimney tube), or the top cap was not replaced quickly enough after filling, causing pressure imbalance inside the tank.
Solution: Always fill carefully, avoiding the center tube. After filling, close the silicone seal or top cap right away, then let the device sit upright for 2–3 minutes. This allows the pressure to equalise and prevents vape leaking from the airflow vents.
Vape Leaking: High Temperature
Phenomenon: More frequent leakage during summer or after leaving the device in a hot car.
Cause: Heat thins the e-liquid, making it more fluid and prone to seeping through seals.
Solution: Avoid leaving your vape in direct sunlight or inside a parked car on a hot day. Keep it at room temperature and carry it with you instead of storing it in extreme heat.
Vape Leaking: PG/VG Ratio
Phenomenon: More frequent leaks when using high-PG e-liquids.
Cause: PG (propylene glycol) has lower viscosity and flows more easily through tiny gaps than VG (vegetable glycerin).
Solution: For refillable pod systems, try an e-liquid with a higher VG content, such as 70VG/30PG. Thicker liquid is less likely to escape through seals and can significantly reduce vape leaking problems.
Practical Maintenance Tips
Daily Habits That Help
- Wipe it down: Each time you refill, use a tissue to clean the connection points and air intakes.
- Store upright overnight: Keeping your device standing vertically reduces the chance of liquid seeping into the airway.
Quick Checklist
Summary
Most vape leaking problems can be solved with correct handling and simple routine checks. Tighten your coil, avoid filling the centre tube, keep your device away from heat, and consider higher-VG e-liquid if you use a refillable pod system. A few small changes can save your juice and keep your hands dry.
